The objective of a Pensions/Taxation Seminar is to increase awareness of the generic options available to you in the lead up to and at retirement, and the advantages and disadvantages of each option. This event is primarily geared towards those members who are in the NAPS or APS pension schemes given the large quantity of detail and time spent discussing the options and tax treatment that surrounds these defined benefit schemes. For completeness, we will also briefly touch on the BAPP scheme during the Seminar. A brief agenda of the day is as follows:
• British Airways Pensions (NAPS and APS) ‐ The options available, and the benefits and security aspects of the schemes. Should the current media coverage of the gilt market in relation to pension schemes concern us? Should I take my NAPS benefits now that I am over 55, even if I am still flying?
• Pension options ‐ Drawing the pension through British Airways and exploring whether alternatives should be considered?
• Cash Equivalent Transfer Value (CETV) and Partial Transfers – The alternative strategies available, how they operate, and how macroeconomics/politics and your personal circumstances can affect the CETV value.
• Taxation – exploring Lifetime Allowance and Annual Allowance taxation and how the taxes may affect your personal benefits (both within NAPS/APS and BAPP) and the strategy you opt for moving forwards.
• BAPP and GIA – Exploring the “new world” of British Airways benefits, including the tax considerations as well as the fund offerings and various routes available to make the most of the companies’ contributions.
• Investment options and Market Outlook ‐ The different investment options/strategies available, how they operate and the charging structures. How best to navigate current market conditions, and how a suitable portfolio should be positioned given the economic climate.
